Gabby Bustillo

Gabriela Bustillo

Receptionist

“I think what I like best about working in this industry is the energy that comes with it – using my organizational skills to stay on top of everything at all times, being the first contact for all clients when they visit or call the office, and making each and every one of them feel welcome and cared for as soon as they enter.”

About Gabby

Gabby’s journey doesn’t begin in an attorney’s office; it begins in El Salvador, where Gabby was born and raised by a family who started out with nothing and still managed to succeed in life. Growing up watching her parents create their own lives from scratch provided Gabby with life lessons that no classroom will ever be able to provide.

She later moved to the U.S. and after some time began to find her footing in Dallas, where she attended Hillcrest High School. The experience of adapting to a new culture at such an early age and becoming confident in what was unfamiliar became the basis for the skills she uses in all areas of her professional life today.

The beginning of her career is right in line with what she enjoys doing because she is naturally comfortable around other people. This has taught her about working with people, anticipating their needs and providing excellent customer service. On the flip side, her least enjoyable job experience was working in collections. Collections taught her how to negotiate effectively. Her proudest moment occurred while in that position. At that time, she worked with a customer’s collection and was able to settle their bill with the debt collection agency for much less than they owed.

At Jay Murray Law, Gabby has taken her enthusiasm for customer service, as well as organizational skills, and brought them into the office space to all of the clients that she assists. As such, she is usually the first person many of our new clients interact with, and she understands how important it is to be prepared for each interaction. Therefore, organization, presence, and supporting each of our clients from their very first contact with us are where Gabby excels.

Her dad has always been quietly instrumental to everything she has pursued with determination. He returned to finish his degree many years after he stopped attending school. He chose to continue to grow, not allowing age or circumstances to be an excuse for him to cease growing. That is an image of her father that has remained with Gabby since childhood, and it affects how she approaches her career on a daily basis. The message from both of her parents was clear and consistent (without fanfare): through their hard work, there are results.

Her younger sister is Gabby’s number one admirer. She always watches what she does, constantly compliments her, and tells Gabby how much she likes the way Gabby lives her life. That kind of silent respect gives Gabby more of an emotional boost than you may think. In addition to working at her job, Gabby can be described in three ways: bubbly, outgoing, and adventurous (especially when it comes to trying new foods). Sleeping, just like most people, is very important to Gabby. Many friends would describe Gabby as someone who brings energy into a space regardless of whether or not she tried to.

On her “bucket list” is going to Switzerland. If she had to choose a superpower, she would go 50/50 on being able to become invisible and super speed – sometimes you wish you were invisible and sometimes you wish you could just get it all done fast!
She fears frogs completely and without hesitation. What she’s learned from experience is to never give up and be responsible for your actions. These are her two rules to live by.
