Abigail Segovia
“The driving force behind my daily work is helping an individual get through a situation they didn’t expect to be in. There’s nothing like being the person who provides support and clarity for an individual who has no idea what to do next. The best feeling at work for me is hearing a sincere “thank you” from someone I have helped.”
About Abigail
Abigail’s career has started out like so many other successful careers – working at a restaurant to understand how to be patient, work hard, and show up for others. The same lessons that she learned from those experiences are still used today as an attorney. After all these years, it was finally time to find her place within the field of personal injury law, and she has never looked back.
As part of the team at Jay Murray Law, Abigail provides support to families throughout what can be a very traumatic experience with regard to filing a personal injury claim. Many times, Abigail will help walk people through a claim process they know little about. In addition, she makes sure each client understands the next steps in and does not feel lost or ignored during the entire process. To Abigail, helping people navigate through the personal injury claims process is much more than a job; rather, it is a calling she could never have envisioned herself doing on a daily basis.
One situation stood out among all of them. A client was involved in a rear-end collision; she lost her car, which put a lot of pressure on her emotionally due to stress and depression. The insurance company denied her entire claim, stating that the driver at fault was an unlisted driver. Many people probably would have simply accepted their decision. Abigail did not. She continuously called for several weeks until she was able to speak with the claim supervisor. She made her case clear and persistent, and ultimately, the insurance company reversed liability. Several months later, the client received payment for her property damage, and she was also represented by an attorney for her bodily injury case.
Her mom is her number one role model and biggest cheerleader, a woman who went from having nothing to learning English as an adult, and now going back to school at Baylor Hospital. Seeing her mom continue to grow and never back down from a challenge has motivated Abby to give it all she has in her own life and career.
Abigail was born in Dallas but was raised in a small community with her mother and grandparents who placed a big emphasis on being a “family first” type of home. Abigail has one brother and two sisters; she is the middle child. The rhythms of Abigail’s upbringing (birthday parties, cook-outs, road trips, holiday celebrations) have clearly influenced how much Abigail cares about those in her life.
She is also a mother of two girls (eleven & eight years old). When she’s not working, you can often find her swimming with her children, playing tennis, or going to the gym. Her friends would describe her as strong, adventurous, and confident. These are all qualities that are evident in both her workplace and personal life.
Abby achieved an important goal – she purchased a house for her two little girls. Abby’s “bucket” (dream) list includes purchasing a boat. It will probably only take her some time to find one that fits her needs.
One thing that Abby would like to have as a power if she had to pick just one is the ability to go back in time. Life has also taught her something else: be patient and enjoy every single day with what you already have.
